Equality Diversity Cohesion in Schools

Making Sense of Equality, Diversity and Community Cohesion

Package for Headteachers in Durham Schools 2008

This package of materials is intended primarily for headteachers to help them to meet their statutory responsibilities in the three related areas of equality, diversity and cohesion. It is available to all headteachers and key officers within the Local Authority as hard copy and CDRom as well as on our schools’ extranet.

Some of the documents will be useful to governors, who have responsibility for ensuring that schools carry out their responsibilities effectively. A few of the documents, for instance the Guideline documents, may also be of interest to parents / carers and to agencies involved in promoting equality, diversity and cohesion.

The package is made up of different types of documents which have different purposes. Overall the package provides :

  • Summarised information on posters and leaflets.
  • Advice and guidance in the form of Guidelines.
  • Information about further resources and local contacts (included in the guidance).
  • Ready to use documents and resources.
  • Documents for schools to adopt or adapt.
Further information about the Package can be found in the Introduction.
